Penneshaw has a new playground thanks to $40,000 funding through the Town Centres Project and local manpower.
Penneshaw Progress Association representative Amanda Rowe said the former permapine playground had decayed and was becoming dangerous.
The funding paid for all the new equipment, which was installed by a team of about 20 volunteers last week.
PlaySpace representative, Gary Doody, designed and managed the installation in consultation with the Penneshaw Progress Association. Mr Doody had also worked on the American River playground upgrade.
The association put on a sausage sizzle for volunteers and the group worked from about 8am to 3pm.
The KI Council organised clearing/levelling the site and materials such as softfall and concrete for the installation and also built bench seats to go along the edge of the playground/tennis courts.
Picnic tables overlooking the oval will soon be installed.
PlaySpace also donated a secondhand slippery dip to the Penneshaw Kindergarten which had been grafittied in a city school.
The Penneshaw Progress Association thanked all the volunteers.
“I was at the playground on Friday and there were 11 children on it so I think we have done an okay job,” Ms Rowe said.
