Elimination Final

Unga Bungas v Ozone

Ozone got off to a good start winning four of the first six games.

Unga Bungas fought back by winning the next three.

With three games to play Terry Lehmann won against Kevin Gunton to bring it to five all.

Ozone’s Chriso had a chance to go one up with a shot on the black but missed giving Steve Hissey the chance to pot out and he didn’t miss giving Unga Bungas the lead again.

The pressure was on in the 12th game with elimination on the line and Gerry handled it best by winning against Brett bringing it back to six-all.

So elimination came down to a tiebreaker between Ozone’s Max Nimmo and Unga Bungas Kevin Gunton.

Max potted one of each off the break, nominated red and potted another then missed in the centre.

Kevin showed excellent ball control with a six ball break

finishing with a long shot down the table, potting the last yellow in the corner and setting up a

regulation shot on the black into the centre pocket.

It seemed all over but Kevin felt the pressure and put it against the cush.

Max wasn’t to be denied and came back with a four ball break but missed a difficult shot on the black leaving the white on the cush giving Kevin a tight shot on the black… Kevin missed again giving Max a long shot to pot the black in the bottom corner… the shot looked good but jawed giving Kevin another regulation shot on the black, he didn’t miss this time giving Unga Bungas the win and eliminating the summer season winners.

Qualifying Final

The Jokers v Queenie

At the completion of the first six games it was three all with no one able to get away to a big lead and the second 6 games were no different with the lead alternating between the two teams.

Queenie had to win the 12th game to take the match but Alby had something to say about

that by winning against Ken Wright sending them into the decider between Queenie’s Maria Lehmann and the Jokers Jeff Turbill.

Maria got the break but put the white in off handing an open table to Jeff. He potted two reds before giving Maria another chance.

In a see-sawing game no one got away to a big lead and in a tight tussle Jeff won with a nice cut into the corner pocket putting the Jokers straight into the Grand Final.

Queenie will be up against the Unga Bungas in the Preliminary final at Kingscote Football Club tonight.

The committee has decided the Most Valuable Player award will be awarded to the player/s who wins the most games throughout the season without a tie breaker, therefore this season’s MVP is a three-way tie between Colin Hopkins, Ryan Christophers and Maria Lehmann who all finished on 28 wins.
